Comments: Yields about 3.5 cups. If fresh herbs are not available, use 1 tsp dried basil and ½ tsp dried oregano for 4 servings.
Ingredients:
2.5 Tablespoons oil, olive
1 Tablespoon basil, fresh finely chopped
0.5 Tablespoon oregano, fresh finely chopped
1 to taste pepper, black
Directions:
In a medium saucepan or skillet, heat the oil.

Add the onions and garlic and sauté over medium-low heat for 6 to 8 minutes until soft. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper.

Reduce heat to low and simmer, partially covered for 20 to 40 minutes. Stir occasionally.
