Cream sugar and Crisco. Add egg.

Heat applesauce (don?t boil) and stir in baking soda. Add to egg mixture and beat well.

Mix together flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt. Add to egg mixture. Fold in raisins and nuts.

Pour into prepared tube pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
